SP 67782126 Moat (NR) (B4).
Published 25" survey revised (B5)
A water filled trapezoidal homestead moat, situated on the floor of a shallow valley. The interior, on average 50.0m NE-SW by 26.0m to 33.0m NW-SE and of 0.16 ha, forms a level platform, now allotment gardens, about 0.3m above the natural ground surface.
The causeway across the surrounding ditch is modern. The ditch is 6.0m wide on the NW, 10.0m wide on the NE, and 6.0m to 10.0m wide on the SW, where there is an unsurveyable outer bank, about 9.0m wide and 0.2m high.
The SE arm is stepped on the inside; being 6.0m wide in the SW half and 12.0m wide in the NE, where it is embanked by a broad flat topped bank, about 6.0m wide and 0.8m high. There is a 5.0m extension SW, to the NW arm.
The water level, lowered by a modern ditch in the N angle, is 0.8m below the platform and about 0.6m deep. It is presumably fed by surface drainage, since the water level in the adjacent stream is 1.5m lower, and there is no evidence to suggest that it was used.
No change to revised 25" survey (B6).
