Description

EARLIEST FEATURES ON SITE WERE LATE SAXON, CONSISTING SOLELY OF GULLIES, MOST SIGNIFICANT (FEATURE 589) BEING V-SHAPED, 0.9M WIDE, 0.35M DEEP, RUNNING NE-SW DOWN CENTRE OF SITE. ANOTHER (FEATURE 630) RAN AT RIGHT ANGLES TO IT . 2 SHALLOWER GULLIES (FEATURES 592 & 646) WERE PARRALEL TO 589 AND MAY POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN EARLIER. FEATURES RELATE TO LAYOUT OF TENEMENTS IN C10. NO ACTUAL BUILDINGS RECORDED. STRATIFIED FINDS FROM GULLY FILLS INCLUDE POTTERY, A BEAD, A STUD, AND A PROBABLE ANTLER KNIFE HANDLE (SEE REPORT & ARCHIVE)(B1).
