Description

POSSIBLE SITE OF THE 'ROUGH HILL OR MOUND' (RUGAN HLAEWE) MENTIONED AD1004 UPPER WINCHENDON BOUNDARY CHARTER. HILL VARIOUSLY CALLED GREAT HILL, HILLSBURY HILL & BULLS HEADLAND. HLAEW USUALLY MEANS ARTIFICIAL MOUND BUT CAN MEAN ISOLATED HILL. HILL IS PROMINENT FEATURE THOUGH NOW NO TRACE BURIAL MOUND (B1-2).
