IN C13 REPUTED MANOR OF BOWELLS HELD OF THE BEAUCHAMPS. DERIVES ITS NAME FROM BOWELES FAMILY. MENTIONED IN 1302 & 1348. AFTER A HIATUS OF 100 YEARS REAPPEARS WITH BUTLERS AS THE PROPERTY OF THE RUFFORDS, 1465-66, & DESCENDED WITH BUTLERS BEING LAST MENTIONED IN 1744 (B1).
