Description
A WATERMILL CALLED CLERKS MILL WAS ATTACHED TO WENDOVER MANOR & IS MENTIONED IN 1411 & AGAIN IN 1555 (B1).
CLERK'S MILL MAY HAVE BEEN THE NETHER MILL ON THE PRESENT SITE (CAS 04020)(B2).
(SP 8708 Sited to locality only) Two medieval watermills in Wendover Parish. The first was established by 1296 and abandoned sometime after the C16. The second was established by 1411 and abandoned sometime after 1555. The location of both mills is not known although the name of the second was Clerks Mill (B2 and B3).
