1 MILL, WORTH 10 SHILLINGS, ON THE DOMESDAY MANOR OF SOBINTONE [SHABBINGTON] (B1).
OS 2-INCH DRAFT MAP MARKS 'MILL' APPROX AT NGR (B2).
THERE ARE VARIOUS REFERENCES TO THE WATER-MILL VALUED AT 10 SHILLINGS YEARLY IN 1086; THE SITE ONLY IS NAMED IN 1683 (B3).
'OLD FISHERMAN' PUBLIC HOUSE IS KNOWN LOCALLY AS 'THE MILL' & WOULD SEEM TO REPRESENT THE MILL SITE. SINCE IT IS CALLED 'THE FISHERMAN' IN BRYANT'S MAP OF 1825, THE MILL WOULD HAVE CEASED WORKING BY THEN (B4).
