A desk based assessment and evaluation was carried out in advance of a housing development. 10 trial tenches were dug in the footprints of 10 of the 12 new houses proposed for the site, with depths that ranged from 0.37m to 0.80m. The stratigraphy consisted of 0.15 - 0.25m of turf and subsoil, over 0.2 - 0.55m of sandy subsoil onto a sandy clay with gravel. Groundwater was encountered at 0.62m. No archaeological features or deposits were found (B3).
