PENNY OF OFFA, KING OF MERCIA (757-796). HIS WIFE BELONGED TO THE FAMILY FROM WHICH DESCENDED GEOFFREY DE CLYNTONE ON WHOM HENRY I BESTOWED HUGHENDEN MANOR. PENNY BORE ON 1 SIDE 'OFFA REX' & WAS WELL EXECUTED & SHARPLY IMPRESSED (B1-2).
NGR TO 'GREAT TINKER'S WOOD' (NB LITTLE TINKER'S WOOD SU854947)(B3).

A silver penny of offa, King of Mercia, was found in Tinker's Wood (SU 8594) between High Wycombe and Downley. (B4)
