OPPOSITE CENTRE OF HOUSE, GATEWAY FLANKED BY 2 SMALL ROOMS INTENDED AS PORTER'S LODGE. FLOORS OF TILE CUBES SET IN FINE MORTAR. PASSAGE WOULD HAVE BEEN C.3M WIDE. OF 1 BUILD WITH BOUNDARY WALL - POSSIBLY SHORTLY AFTER SITE'S INITIAL OCCUPATION. SOME SUBSIDENCE OF FOUNDATIONS IN SOFT SUBSOIL (B8).
