Description
2 COINS FOUND IN CLOSE PROXIMITY (00:001,00:002), AT DIFFERENT DATES. POTENTIAL OCCUPATION, NATURE UNKNOWN (B1-2).
A sestertius of Commodus (AD 180-93) was found when digging a trench at No 1 Station Road, SU 964972, some years before the last war; now in the County Museum (Acc No 74.63). Found by Dr K P Oakley before 1939 (B3-B2).
A coin of Philip II was found c1967 in the immediate vicinity of the find spot of the sestertius of Commodus, 100 yds east of the river (B4).
No 1 Station Rd located at SU 96379718. Dr Oakley lives at Oxford; no further information (B5).
