SHAFT NOTED ON NW EDGE OF PLANTATION, AT NGR. SHAFT NOW NEARLY INFILLED, BUT TENANT WENT DOWN SOME YEARS AGO & SAID GALLERY OPENED FROM SHAFT ABOUT 6M DOWN. MINE ALLEGEDLY FOR FLINTS USED IN RAVENSCROFT GLASSWORKS AT HENLEY, BUT COULD IT BE A CHALK MINE? SITE PLOTTED BY MISS A FLINDERS PETRIE (B1).
