FURTHER TO DISCOVERY OF CHALK MINE (CASS 04642:01) MR HUSSEY, LOCAL RESIDENT, RECALLS THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL SHAFTS ON MOOR COMMON, DISUSED BY 1920'S BUT FORMERLY FOR CHALK EXTRACTION. OCCASIONAL SUBSIDENCE OCCURRED & AS A CHILD HE WAS WARNED TO STAY AWAY (B1).
