Adjustment of Singleborough to Gt Horwood sewerage pipeline to avoid this area produced no archaeological features in vicinity although the service trenching may not have been deep enough to disturb archaeological deposits (B3).
Earthwork survey and strip and record excavation carried out in August 2002 by CgMS and Northamptonshire Archaeology in advance of construction of a new house and garage. A narrow, shallow ditch and 4 shallow pits, containing fills with 11th to 12th century pottery, animal bone, spindle whorl and quern fragments were identified, suggesting that occupation did not continue on the site into the later medieval period. The presence of large quantities of later medieval pottery in the topsoil however indicates that occupation continued to the end of the 14th century in the vicinity. See report for detail (B4).

Subrectangular boundaries, ditches and banks of medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located at the southern end of the existing settlement at Singleborough, Great Horwood, and centred at SP 76625 31773. The earthworks fit within the ridge and furrow earthworks of former field systems around the settlement of Singleborough and form, at the southern end, a probable boundary, maybe a moat or formal gardens, with earthworks of former boundaries and a possible house/building platform nearby. Part of the enclosure has been removed by the development of a house over part of the site, with landscaping appearing to infill some of the earthworks, and the former farmyard buildings adjacent to the site appears to have been completely removed. The remaining earthworks of the possible moat/garden features are 80x46m. The possible site of a 15th century is recorded within this area (see MBC390). This area is outside the conservation area.
