A roughly H-shaped ditch and associated rectilinear mounds of uncertain function but probably early 20th century in date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in a field west of Coddimoor Lane about 550 metres NW of Coddimoor Farm and centred at SP 80306 33322, the ditch varies between 9 and 13 metres wide, the two parallel arms are aligned WNW-ESE and the connecting arm between the two aligned SSW-NNE. The ditches share the same alignment as the post-inclosure field boundary in which they are located. Directly and clearly deliberately aligned with the WNW-ESE arms are four roughly rectangular earthwork mounds between 15 and 19 metres wide, three of which are sited at the end of the ditches, but one of which interrupts the ditch. A fifth mound sits some way to the NE and a small These may be the spoil dumps from the ditches. Aerial photographs taken in 1946 show scrub-like vegetation growing in the ditches at that time, suggesting the feature had been there for some time. There are numerous old gravel pits shown in close proximity on historic OS mapping, so possibly this may represent an attempt at mechanical extraction in the early 20th century? (5-8)
