Description

Dimensions - Length 550cm, Depth 150cm, Width 300cm.
Plan Form - RECTANGULAR
LARGE RECTANGULAR CUT EXCAVATED UNDERNEATH MAIN BUILDING. POSSIBLY USED TO OBTAIN CHALK MARL FOR CEMENT, PRESUMABLY FOR BUILDING PRE-DATING EXCAVATED ONE. PIT FILLED IN WITH GRAVEL, WITH LAYER OF CLAY & CHALK TESSERAE AT BOTTOM. PIT CONTAINED POTTERY, INCLUDING SAMIAN, OF MID C1 AD (B1).
