Description

Grade II. Mausoleum. 1862, for Mackenzie family of Fawley Court. Large blocks of Aberdeen granite. Approximately Grecian in style. Square, with shallow stepped pyramid roof, plain entablature and roll-moulded plinth. N. side has entrance with inscription frieze and projecting pediment on heavy pilasters. Winged hourglass in tympanum. Wooden door with latticed upper panel and heraldic stag's head. Other sides of building have panels with carved urns in narrow flanking recesses. E. and W. panels have inscriptions, S. panel is heraldic (B9).
