Description

BETWEEN 1634-1756 A FAMILY OF BELL-FOUNDERS LIVED AT DRAYTON PARSLOW. RECORDS OF THEIR CASTING 190 CHURCH BELLS. RICHARD CHANDLER BEGAN THE FOUNDRY IN 1634 NEAR THE SMITHY, NEXT TO THE 'THREE HORSESHOES INN' (B2).
2 OR 3 GENERATIONS OF CHANDLER FAMILY WERE BELL-FOUNDERS HERE (B1).

2 bells in Grendon Underwood church were made at the Drayton Parslow bell-foundry. A 14 cwt bell cast by Anthony Chandler in 1664, and a 11 cwt bell cast by Richard Chandler III in 1667 (B4).
