Description

Grade II. C19. Red brick; corrugated iron roof. Remains of estate gasworks. Chimney cement-rendered to resemble tree trunk (B7).
Gasworks built for the Marquis of Westminster, pre-1872. A gasometer is marked on the 1875-
1914 OS maps, indicating the location of the former gasworks. Retort house still stands and is Grade
II listed (NHLE No 1165558). The chimney is disguised as tree trunk (B26).
