Description

FIELD CENTRED AT NGR KNOWN AS 'WINDMILL FIELD' (B1).
Site of windmill mound suggested to be located in field to south (Field 1) on basis of walkover survey (a small natural hummock at SP7904234844) and on AP evidence (a clear rectangular platform in the ridge and furrow with two indents) (B2).
Examination of 1946 and 1947 RAF vertical APs shows the rectangular platform clearly overlying the ridge and furrow and the form is more suggestive of a WWII searchlight emplacement or small anti-aircraft battery [CAS 9517](B3).
