Description

MAPS OF 1599, 1695, 1758 MARK A WINDMILL, APPROX AT NGR (B1-4).
A WINDMILL STOOD AT MILL KNOLL, PROBABLY 1 OF 5 IN AREA DESTROYED FEB 1760 (ALSO REF FEB 1762) (B5).
'TOWN MILLS' IN AREA OF NGR (B6).
MILL STOOD IN CORNER OF JENNINGS CLOSE(B8).
CIRCULAR EARTHWORK WITH DEPRESSION AT NGR, MILL MOUND? (PLAN) (B9).
REFERENCE TO A WINDMILL AT WINSLOW, 6 MAY 1516 (B5).
IN EDWARD I'S TIME THERE WAS A WINDMILL BELONGING TO THE ABBOT OF ST ALBANS, WHICH FOLLOWED THE DESCENT OF THE MANOR (B7).
Evaluation trial trenching carried out by Cotswold Archaeology in 2016 failed to locate the mill mound due to the trial trench being positioned at the wrong NGR (B10).
