OS SAY IS NOT A MOAT BUT POSSIBLY A DECOY POND OR ORNAMENTAL DRAINAGE FEATURE. IN JULY 1977 THE POND WAS RAPIDLY SILTING; THE ISLAND WAS 2M ABOVE THE LEVEL OF THE POND & WAS TREE PLANTED (B2).

A post medieval pond is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as an earthwork and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in the corner of a field boundary and centred at SP 71318 20050, an O-shaped ditch or pond that varies between 2.5 metres and 12.5 metres wide encloses a central pill-shaped island with roughly parallel sides and rounded ends about 34.5 metres N-S and 16 metres wide. Around the outside of the pond are sections of earthworks bank. On aerial photographs taken in 2023 and recent remote sensing data, the pond remains extant (3-4 ).
