Description

Thorne Manor held of Miles Sandys in 1586; aquired its name from the Thorne family, the earliest mention being Sir John Thorne who held lands here in 1279. No mention of this manor after 1795. [Manorial history] (B1).
OS map marks 'The Thorne' later 'Thorne Barton' at NGR, presumed to be the site of the manor (B2).
