Description

WHEN PERFECT MOAT 1/2 ACRE SQUARE (B1).
FRAGMENT OF HOMESTEAD MOAT (B2).
MOATED SITE IN FIELD CALLED GREAT BURY: NAME SUGGESTS FORTIFIED HOMESTEAD (B3).
L-SHAPED AREA OF WATER-NOT CONVINCING MOAT FRAGMENT. SLIGHT OCCUPATION TO NW (CAS 01961)(B4).
NOT A HOMESTEAD MOAT BUT A DRAINAGE POND (B5).



Remains of a homestead moat and a fishpond, in a field called "Great Bury". (Probably the fragment shown on OS 6" 1958 at SP 720172) (B3).
The ploughing of a large rectangular house platform at SP 72001729 revealed much 12th/13th century pottery and roof tile, and a few earlier Shelly wares (B6)
Not a homestead moat but a drainage pond. The farmer confirmed the finds of auth.2 but perambulation was not possible due to a tall cereal crop. (B7)
