BEFORE CONQUEST HELD BY ALRIC, SON OF GODING. 1086 HELD BY WALTER GIFFARD. HELD OF THE CROWN IN CHIEF UNTIL 1590, 1387-1523 AS OF THE HONOUR OF GLOUCESTER. AS CHILTON PASSED GIFFARDS TO MARSHALS TO CLARES. HAS DESCENDED WITH CHILTON FROM 1782 WHEN EDWARD HORNE SOLD THE MANOR TO JOHN AUBREY (B2).
