HOMESTEAD MOAT, FRAGMENT (B1).
SMALL 4-SIDED WATERFILLED HOMESTEAD MOAT, INCORPORATED INTO THE PRIVATE GARDEN OF UPPER FARM & NOW FORMING AN ORNAMENTAL FEATURE. MEASURES OVERALL 50M NW/SE BY 30-50M TRANSVERSELY. ARMS VARY IN WIDTH FROM 6-12M. NO BUILDING REMAINS ON ISLAND. SURVEY AT 1:2500 (B2).


A fragment of a homestead moat, SE of the church at Ilmer (detail shown but not described on OS 6" at SP 7704 0540) (B1).
A small, four-sided, waterfilled homestead moat, centred at SP 7702 0540; incorporated into the private garden of Upper Farm and now forming an ornamental feature.
The moat measures, overall, 50.0m NW-SE by 30.0 to 50.0m transversely. The arms vary in width from 6.0 to 12.0m. There are no building remains on the island.
