Description
1788 WATERMILL APPROX NGR(BI1). 1814 &1825 'SHIFT MILL' APPROX NGR (BI2). POSS THAT WHEN THE UPPER MILL WAS ABANDONED MILL MOVED TO SITE LOWER DOWN AT BACK OF PRESENT RECREATION GROUND HENCE NAME 'SHIFT' BUT EVEN THIS MILL LONG GONE(BI3). MADE UP BANK, FAR END OF ASHBROOK REC. IS THE OLD MILL TRACK(BI4).
Plan of Wendover Canal c.1800 shows 'Lucas Mill' at roughly this point (B5).
